Companion Aviary was born out of a deep desire to hand-raise cockatiels and other birds. We are dedicated to the health and well-being of every bird in our care. Our breeders are treated as well as an individual pet would be.

Our focus is on Cockatiels, but we are also currently breeding Parakeets (budgies, American and English), Lovebirds, Timneh Greys, and are working with Goffin's Cockatoos, Parrotlets, and Nanday Conures.

OPEN HOUSE

SATURDAY, AUGUST 18, 2007 we are having an open house. This is Camden's "Farmers Days" weekend. As of this post, we have several varieties of cockatiels and several budgies available. We normally operate by appointment only, so our open house days are a good time to just 'drop in' and see what we are doing, the condition of our birds, etc.

If you are going to be in the Camden area on the 18th, please stop in and say hello. We'd love to see you and it would be great to see some of the people who are stopping by this site.

WEBSITE UPDATE: It has been a long time since we have updated the site due to work in other areas. The site is being re-created from scratch because of some database handing problems. As mentioned in the previous post, since it is being overhauled, the design will be redone as well. Watch for the new design soon. It is hard to predict when it will be ready to go live, but we are shooting for having it up and running by the beginning of September.

Technical Issues

After doing a few searches on the bird list pages, we discovered there is something wrong with the database handling -some birds are showing up with wrong detail info. We're looking into the issue. Until it is fixed, some listings may be incorrect, there will not be any new listings added, and those pages may be unavailable completely for a while. We will post here just as soon as the problems are resolved. THANKS!

Two Forward, One Back

Things have been rolling along very well here lately. So well, in fact, that we have not had the proper time to work on getting old records into our database. There have been nearly two months now with no updates like we had hoped when the new site launched.

However, to get caught up we are planning to bypass some of the older, now historical records, and just focus on the current and new. One of the delays came from wanting to get all the older records in before the new, so that ID's and such would be realatively chronological. It has been decided that it is more important to show current activity regardless of what it does to some of our numbering systems.

We have been able to add a few more listings in this morning between other chores and should be getting our current breeders and "availables" up to date by the end of the week.

OPEN HOUSE

We will be having another open house weekend June 16 & 17 (Fri & Sat) from about 10am to 6pm. Drop in and say 'hi', check out the aviary and our breeders, tell us about your favorite bird pal, or take a new friend home with you. At this time we have several cockatiels and parakeets available. A few quakers will be available very soon and deposits can be made anytime to hold one.

You're Lookin' At It!

It took longer than anticipated, but you are viewing the newly overhauled CompanionAviary.com. We are now moving into the process of 'data entry' as we add our bird records to our new database. All the links should be live now and the site is fully functional. Feel free to click away!

For a few weeks the site may not reflect our most current activity as we are working on catching up on old information first. This entry will be updated to let everyone know when ALL records have been entered. Once complete, we will be posting new records and/or updating current records daily (at worst weekly), so the site will stay current and accurately reflect what is available.

There are a few more features planned including various care/help pages, list of recent updates on the home page, newsletter, and possibly even a birds-only cartoon section. We're not sure how much or when these can be added, but this site should continue to grow over time.

We will be having an open house June 2&3 (Fri-Sat). This is our first open house of 2006. We are currently planning another open house June 16&17 (Fri-Sat).
